Okkonen-Ockenström -sukuseura

Okkonen-Ockenström -sukuseura ry is a Finnish family association dedicated to bringing relatives together and preserving knowledge of their shared heritage. Founded in spring 1951, it is described as one of Finland’s oldest family associations with roots in the peasant community. Membership is open to people connected to the family, including descendants known by the surnames Okkonen, Ockenström, Oulasvirta, Järventaus, Olaste and Vaajoensuu, as well as relatives who have acquired other surnames through their maternal line.

The association’s website provides information about its history, activities, news and events, and enables family members to join, update contact details and maintain their information in the family book. Members and other interested relatives can order the family book for themselves or as a gift, and browse information about earlier publications through the association’s shop. The association also shares newsletters, maintains a photo album and invites people to take part in its activities. Events include family gatherings and a planned group theatre visit in Tampere. The association encourages relatives to stay connected and participate together.
