About Historic Fort Steuben
Historic Fort Steuben is a historic landmark and educational attraction in Steubenville, Ohio, dedicated to preserving and sharing the area’s history. Its reconstructed fort brings the late 18th century to life through guided tours and historical interpretation, while the Visitor Center and Museum Shop provide year-round opportunities to learn and browse. The site also explores subjects including the First American Regiment, Lewis and Clark, the Northwest Territory, surveying, and Baron von Steuben, the Revolutionary War figure for whom the fort and city were named.
Visitors can enjoy seasonal programs and events such as concerts, cultural activities, lectures, exhibits, a quilt show, Constitution Day celebrations, and Christmas at the Fort. The Berkman Amphitheater hosts performances and community programs, and facilities are available to rent for meetings, reunions, conferences, and special events. Families and young visitors can take part in educational activities and the free Lewis and Clark Trail Junior Ranger program, which offers an activity booklet and badge.
