Old Friends is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to providing retired Thoroughbred racehorses with dignified, lifelong care. Founded in 2003, the organization offers horses a safe place to call home, whether they were champions or never made it to the starting gate. Its farm in Georgetown, Kentucky, is home to hundreds of retirees, including Breeders’ Cup winners and other notable horses.
Visitors can take guided tours to meet the horses, learn their stories, and experience life on the farm. Old Friends also shares news, horse profiles, and photographs through its website, helping supporters stay connected with the residents and the organization’s work. The public can support its mission through donations, monthly giving, sponsorships, and purchases from its eBay store. Old Friends additionally hosts events and auctions, including its Breeders’ Cup Bash and silent auction, to engage the community and raise support. Its work is reflected in the horses it cares for, the races they won, and the earnings they brought in during their careers.
