About Alex & Wendy
Alex & Wendy is a dynamic duo passionate about home renovation and DIY projects, owning two historic properties: an 1880s row house in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, and a 1908 foursquare nearby. Since purchasing their first home shortly after their marriage in 2003, Alex and Wendy have poured countless hours, along with their savings, into transforming dilapidated spaces into beautiful, functional homes. Their journey, filled with challenges and triumphs, inspired them to share their experiences through the blog Old Town Home, launched in 2011.
This platform not only documents their adventures but also provides valuable tutorials and insights for fellow DIY enthusiasts. As they navigate various trials—from plumbing issues to seasonal storms—they aim to entertain and educate others on the joys of home improvement. Alex, a skilled general contractor, and Wendy, a talented designer and licensed realtor, invite readers to join in their endeavors, learning from their successes and setbacks along the way
