OmaMaa

Ruokaosuuskunta Oma Maa is a Finnish food cooperative bringing local organic food from farm to community through a community-supported agriculture model. Based around its partner farm in Tuusula, the cooperative grows and prepares food throughout the year, working together with farmers and local people. Its approach emphasizes ecological sustainability, community participation, self-sufficiency and farming that respects biodiversity while seeking to minimize food waste.

Members can order a harvest bag of food grown and prepared by the cooperative, delivered weekly or every other week. They can also take part directly in cultivation and food production at the Tuusula farm as members, trainees or volunteers. Oma Maa presents membership as a way to connect with the food system, support sustainable agriculture and become part of a close-knit community. The organization shares seasonal recipes and information about its farming practices, activities and events. It also offers member-space rental and catering services. Oma Maa has a presence in Tuusula and in Helsinki’s Kallio district, and welcomes people interested in local food and more sustainable ways of living.
