OMVQ

The Ordre des médecins vétérinaires du Québec (OMVQ) is the professional order responsible for regulating veterinary practice in Quebec and protecting the public. Its mission includes supporting veterinarians’ professional development and promoting an integrated understanding of animal, public, and environmental health. The organization provides information about the veterinary profession, including areas of practice, specialties, education, professional responsibilities, and applicable laws and regulations.

For the public, the OMVQ offers a directory to help people find a veterinarian, practical advice on animal health, and answers to frequently asked questions. It also explains professional obligations and provides information on submitting an inquiry, disciplinary decisions, practice limitations, and compensation and fees. For veterinary professionals and students, the Order provides guidance on admissions, permits, continuing education, professional development, and recognition of specialties. It also oversees practice standards, monitors illegal practice, and publishes reports, policy positions, and informational documents. Through these resources and regulatory activities, the OMVQ supports responsible veterinary care and helps the public understand the profession and its protections.
