On Eternal Patrol is dedicated to preserving the history and legacy of submariners, particularly those who served during World War II. Founded by Charles R. Hinman, the organization operates out of the USS Bowfin Submarine Museum & Park, located at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. With a background steeped in naval heritage—being an eleventh-generation American with family ties to naval service—Hinman brings a unique perspective to his role as Director of Education & Outreach.
On Eternal Patrol offers educational presentations that delve into the science and history of submarines, engaging students and the public alike. The team's extensive research has contributed to notable publications, including updates on U.S. submarine losses during the war, recognized by the Naval History & Heritage Command. The organization’s commitment to honoring the sacrifices of submariners is complemented by its interactive exhibits and community outreach, making it a valuable resource for both history enthusiasts and scholars. Through their efforts, the legacy of those who served under the sea continues to be celebrated and remembered.
