Ons Dorpje Overeind

Ons Dorpje Overeind is a social, ecological and sustainable living community in Schalkwijk, Utrecht, around 20 minutes by car from Utrecht. Built around a monumental farmhouse, the project brings together eight households with a shared commitment to caring for one another, future generations and the earth. Alongside community living, the organisation welcomes visitors through a range of stays and services.

Its respite-care offering provides a spacious, green setting where people who care for loved ones can take a break. The guesthouse, Logeerhuis Ons Dorpje Overeind, offers overnight stays, while a simple trekkershut serves as a base for holidaymakers, cyclists and walkers. For groups, the community also offers an inspiring, nature-oriented meeting venue on the first floor of its hay barn.

Ons Dorpje Overeind shares information about its mission and community, and invites people to learn more, attend events, volunteer or become friends of the project. Located at Overeind 22–25, it combines practical hospitality with a broader vision of sustainable living and connection between people and nature.
