Ontario Fishing Ponds

Ontario Fishing & Trout Ponds, also known as Wilmer Trout Ponds, is a family-oriented fishing facility located about one kilometre north of Durham, Ontario, near Owen Sound and Georgian Bay. It welcomes both bait and fly-fishing anglers, with separate ponds for different types of fishing. The ponds are stocked with naturally fed brook, brown and rainbow trout, as well as large-mouth bass; the trout are not pellet-fed. Visitors can choose among ponds containing rainbow trout, speckled and rainbow trout, or bass, with some brown trout also present.

The facility offers a relaxed outing for families, beginners learning to fish and experienced anglers trying new techniques. Its listed policies state that there is no season or catch limit and no fishing licence is required. Admission is charged, with separate rates for fly-fishing and for fish kept, priced by live weight according to species. The site lists opening hours as 8 a.m. to sunset, seven days a week, though its notice says operations were temporarily closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
