The Association of Ontario Midwives is the professional organization representing midwives and the practice of midwifery in the province of Ontario. It is run by a Board of Directors. In Ontario, a midwife is a registered health-care professional who provides primary care to low-risk clients throughout pregnancy, labour and birth. Midwives also provide care to both client and baby during the six weeks following birth. There are currently more than 1000 midwives in Ontario.

About Association of Ontario Midwives
Ontario Midwives is dedicated to advancing the clinical and professional practice of Indigenous/Aboriginal and Registered Midwives in Ontario. With clinics in 100 communities across the province, from Attawapiskat to Windsor, Belleville to Kenora, Ontario Midwives provide excellence in midwifery care. They offer a range of services including pregnancy, birth, and newborn care, all delivered with a commitment to decolonization and anti-racism.
Midwifery care is accessible to all, as you don't need a doctor's referral, and it is covered by the health-care system. Ontario Midwives also prioritize research, offering research grants to expand and improve midwifery practice. They advocate for pay equity and aim to close the gender pay gap for midwives.
