About WEC
WEC (Werelderfgoedcentrum Waddenzee) is located in Lauwersoog and serves as the new home of the Pieterburen Seal Center. This engaging facility invites visitors to experience the unique Wadden Sea ecosystem, featuring an interactive exhibition that showcases the region's natural wonders. Visitors can meet seals up close in the seal hospital, participate in educational excursions, and explore laboratories dedicated to marine research and conservation.
The center emphasizes sustainable practices and aims to foster a healthy relationship between humans and nature. Families can enjoy various activities, including crafting and fun hands-on experiments designed for children. With daily opening hours from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, WEC provides a wealth of information and experiences for all age groups.
