Its app helps drivers and riders discover more than 650,000 miles of trails for 4x4 vehicles, ATVs, UTVs, dirt bikes, and snowmobiles across the United States. Users can review trail descriptions, difficulty ratings, reports, obstacles, and closures, then build and share routes for day trips or multi-day journeys.

The app supports offline maps and GPS navigation, helping users stay oriented beyond cell coverage. Mapping features include 3D terrain, public and private land boundaries, property information, and recreation points such as campsites, trailheads, and fuel stations. A dispersed-camping layer identifies places where motorized access and camping are permitted, using USFS-verified data. Riders can also share live locations with their group, save custom waypoints, and track routes. Membership options include Premium and Elite plans, with Elite adding property and landowner details, camping maps, and member benefits. onX Offroad also offers a seven-day Elite trial and provides onX SOS emergency support through Overwatch x Rescue.
