Opel-Zoo

Opel-Zoo is a zoological park in Kronberg im Taunus, Germany, operated by the Opel Hessische Zoostiftung. Home to around 1,700 animals representing more than 220 species, it gives visitors the chance to see animals including elephants, giraffes, zebras, meerkats, red pandas, cheetahs and spectacled penguins. The zoo combines public visits with education, research and species conservation. Its activities include zoo research and conservation partnerships, such as its work with WWF Germany to protect the endangered Malayan tapir.

Visitors can plan a day out with admission tickets, annual passes, dining options, a zoo shop and an app featuring a map, animal information and audio guides. Educational and family activities include guided tours, school programs, zoo trails, children’s birthdays and workshops. Seasonal events and special tours, including visits to the Madagascar aviary, are also offered. The zoo provides animal sponsorships and donation opportunities for people wishing to support its work, alongside a supporting association. It also offers career and training opportunities, including zookeeper apprenticeships and school internships.
