Visitors can search for information across topics and organizations, while registered users can upload datasets they have created or link to open data hosted elsewhere. The site brings together public-interest information from varied sources, including examples related to industry, energy, taxation, buildings, and civil society. Its listings include data concerning natural gas and energy identification codes, as well as databases from Hungary’s National Tax and Customs Administration and information about organizations receiving personal income tax donations.

Some dataset entries have limited descriptions, so users may need to consult the linked sources for further context. opendata. hu also provides usage terms, a brief user guide, and a privacy statement, and points visitors to social media and a blog for more about open data.

The platform is operated by K-Monitor, with technical operations provided by Precognox. Powered by CKAN and associated with the Open Knowledge Foundation, it supports public access to and sharing of open datasets
