Open Design Afrika

Open Design Afrika is a nonprofit organisation focused on using creativity and design to support systemic change and build thriving futures for people and the planet. It develops creative intelligence and future-ready life skills, including empathy, emotional intelligence, and critical thinking, helping people become confident problem solvers, future-makers, and changemakers. Its work aims to strengthen social and human capital and contribute to communities equipped to shape business, society, and the environment in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Open Design Afrika offers creative learning experiences, educational programmes, workshops, and events for citizens and communities. Its activities include biomimicry learning, youth-focused initiatives, family maker experiences, and festival programmes that bring together local and global participants, including changemakers and social entrepreneurs. Through its festivals and online content, the organisation shares ideas and stories about designing for inclusion, wellbeing, and positive change. Open Design Afrika also promotes an Afrikan perspective on identity and ownership of the continent’s future, and invites people to take part in shaping a more sustainable and life-affirming world.
