Its database allows users to explore, visualize, download, and contribute datasets published under open licenses. Contributors can add context to their data through Scenario Bundles, which connect scenarios with the models and data used to develop them.

The platform also provides tools and resources for working with the Open Energy Ontology (OEO), a collection of energy-related terminology and relationships that supports data annotation and management. Users can browse ontology entities, search terminology, and access related services. The Open Energy Academy offers courses, tutorials, getting-started guidance, and answers to common questions about the Open Energy Family tools and the platform.

For developers and data users, OEP provides API documentation and tools for downloading and publishing open data. Additional resources include database metadata tools, factsheets, scenario and model documentation, and open-data services.
