OpenFactory is a custom Linux distribution builder for creating, testing, and deploying bootable Linux images. Users can start with guided prompts, supported Git repositories, or reusable recipes, then inspect build records, image hashes, software inventories, and virtual-machine test results. The platform also supports multi-node labs and fleet deployments, with options to apply CIS security controls, deploy web applications, and record visual application tests.
OpenFactory’s first hardware target is the original PINE64 PinePhone, with an alpha recipe based on postmarketOS version 26.06 and a choice of Phosh or Plasma Mobile. Builds use pinned sources, full-disk encryption is enabled by default, and signed images are available for installation; two-phone qualification is pending. Mobian images based on Debian 13 are identified as the next PinePhone recipe family.
The service also presents a broad catalog of Linux distributions and variants, including Debian, Fedora, Ubuntu, Arch Linux, Alpine Linux, and many others. OpenFactory offers product documentation, pricing information, enterprise technical pilots, demos, and resources such as a blog, community, and security information.
