About Open Greek
Open Greek Corpus is an open-access reader and digital corpus for Ancient Greek literature dating from antiquity to 1453 CE. It brings together texts from openly licensed collections, including First1KGreek, Perseus, Greek Patristics, the Patristic Text Archive, and other digital editions, alongside newly digitized works produced using advanced optical character recognition. The collection contains 3,909 works by 1,500 authors, representing more than 82 million tokens.
Readers can explore texts through a table of contents, search the full corpus, and look up words in a lexicon by selecting individual tokens. Each token includes a lemma, part of speech, and morphological information. Annotations draw on hand-corrected treebanks where available and automated models elsewhere, with multiple annotation layers provided for many works. The corpus also offers author and work listings spanning a broad range of Greek literature. Its machine-readable data is available through an open repository on GitHub, supporting access and reuse for reading, research, and digital humanities projects.
