About Open Institute
Open Institute is a non-profit organization based in Nairobi, Kenya, dedicated to collaborating with governments, civil society organizations, citizen groups, and private sector companies to achieve sustainable development. Their goal is to promote responsive governments that actively engage with citizens and encourage active citizenship. Open Institute works to ensure that governments have the capacity to listen to citizen voices and disclose relevant information about development to the public.
They undertake projects and programs that encourage the use of data at the grassroots and sub-national levels, with the aim of creating an open society managed by informed and fact-driven citizens. This society features a responsive and accountable government that delivers necessary services to its citizens. Open Institute also works with non-state actors to educate citizens on their roles and engage with the government to provide feedback on changing realities and emerging needs.
Through the right infrastructure, technology, and policies, Open Institute envisions a continent making inclusive progress towards eliminating poverty and establishing capable institutions
