Open Letter Books is the nonprofit literary translation press of the University of Rochester, dedicated to bringing significant writing from around the world to English-language readers. One of a small number of publishers focused on literary translation, it publishes ten titles each year, seeking extraordinary and influential works with the potential to become classics of the future. Its catalog includes fiction, poetry, nonfiction, anthologies, and collections, representing writers and literary traditions from Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas.
Readers can explore titles by author, country, and subject, and purchase new and forthcoming books through the pressβs online shop. Featured offerings include Fortress of the Forgotten Ones, The City, Auroville: A City of Dreams, and Boudoir. Alongside its publishing program, Open Letter runs Three Percent, an online literary website that helps readers discover international writing.
Through its books and literary platform, the press cultivates an audience for imaginative, engaging, and enduring literature in translation, while broadening access to world literature
