OpenPolitical is an innovative platform that provides a comprehensive primary-source view of American campaign finance. Currently in closed beta, it consolidates federal filings from the FEC and state filings from California and Texas into a user-friendly interface. Each dollar tracked on the site links back to public disclosures, enabling users to access source filings with a single click. OpenPolitical is specifically designed for professionals engaged in campaign finance, such as media buyers, compliance counsel, and journalists. Its unique methodology ensures that campaign finance data is normalized and linked, allowing users to explore interconnected profiles of vendors, filers, and campaigns seamlessly.

The platform is refreshed weekly and leverages a sophisticated system for canonicalizing vendor identities and resolving names across filings, ensuring accuracy and reliability. While currently focused on federal and state data from California and Texas, OpenPolitical aims to expand its scope to additional states in the future. Interested professionals can request access during this beta phase, fostering a community dedicated to enhancing transparency in campaign finance.
