About OpenRA
OpenRA is an open source project that brings classic real-time strategy (RTS) games into the modern era. With a focus on games like Red Alert, Command & Conquer, and Dune 2000, OpenRA recreates and revitalizes these beloved titles. The project employs a flexible game engine, aptly named the OpenRA engine, which allows for the rebuilding and reimagining of 2D and 2.
5D RTS games. Unlike the original games, the OpenRA engine is not limited by technical constraints and offers native support for modern operating systems, high screen resolutions, and online multiplayer functionality. Furthermore, OpenRA enhances the gameplay experience by incorporating contemporary features, such as improved controls, hotkeys, production queues, and the fog of war.
It also introduces support for replays, streaming, and various other modern RTS elements. OpenRA is completely free and includes three distinct mods: Tiberian Dawn, Red Alert, and Dune 2000. Additionally, it provides strong modding support, allowing users to create and release their own custom projects.
