OpenSearch is a community-driven, open-source search and analytics project of the Linux Foundation, licensed under Apache 2.0. It provides an integrated, vendor-neutral platform for ingesting, searching, visualizing, and analyzing data, supporting use cases across AI, enterprise search, observability, and security analytics.
The platform includes OpenSearch Core, a search and analytics engine built on Apache Lucene; OpenSearch Dashboards, for exploring and querying data visually; and Data Prepper, which collects, enriches, transforms, and aggregates data for analytics. Its vector engine supports machine learning and generative AI applications, while additional capabilities include vector search, anomaly detection, log analysis, threat intelligence, and event correlation.
OpenSearch also offers tools and resources to help teams build and operate solutions, including migration assistance, performance benchmarking, language clients, documentation, and a project roadmap. Its community connects users and contributors through forums, events, user groups, Slack, GitHub, webinars, and community projects. The project welcomes participation in its development and provides access to solution providers offering related services.
