About OpenStreetMap
OpenStreetMap is a collaborative mapping project that creates a free-to-use map of the world under an open license. Its maps are built and maintained by contributors, who can add information, edit map data, and share local knowledge. The website provides tools for exploring the map, viewing different layers, checking map history, exporting data, and finding GPS traces and user diaries.
Visitors can also contribute by editing directly in a browser with iD or using remote-control options for desktop mapping applications such as JOSM, Potlatch, and Merkaartor. For route planning, the site offers integrations with GraphHopper, OSRM, and Valhalla. OpenStreetMap supports a broad community through its communities and help resources, and invites users to start mapping or make a donation.
The project is supported by Fastly, corporate members of the OpenStreetMap Foundation, and other partners. OpenStreetMap’s website and API are subject to published terms of use, and map data is credited to OpenStreetMap contributors
