Opholdsstedet Porsgaard, also known as Børne- og Ungehjemmet Porsgaard, is a residential care and social-pedagogical service for children and young people aged 10 to 18, with support available up to age 23. It works with young people experiencing socio-emotional challenges and cognitive dysfunctions, offering a safe, homelike setting built around care, structure and dependable adult relationships.
Porsgaard’s approach is grounded in recognition, understanding and mentalization, with an emphasis on each young person’s potential to develop. The team works toward agreed goals in individual care plans and maintains continuity from admission through to discharge. Young people, families, social workers, caregivers and other relevant professionals are involved in planning and follow-up wherever possible, helping strengthen relationships and support wellbeing.
The service also provides step-down apartments where young people can practise living independently before moving into their own homes. Through everyday support and documented pedagogical work, Porsgaard aims to help young people build confidence, develop practical independence and prepare for adult life.
