About The Observatory of Public Policies & Health
The Observatory of Public Policies & Health (OPPH) is a civil society organization established in Lebanon in 2011. OPPH is dedicated to addressing health disparities among marginalized groups in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. With a focus on promoting health and confronting inequalities, OPPH works through various workgroups and projects.
Each workgroup targets a specific marginalized population group to promote their well-being. These groups include refugees, migrants, internally displaced persons, individuals affected by drug abuse, and those in need of infection control, community nutrition, and health in prison. OPPH also conducts research projects and publishes its findings to provide evidence-based strategies for improving public health.
Recent projects address topics such as the abuse of women migrant domestic workers and the effectiveness of opioid substitution treatment. The organization also collaborates with international partners to deliver visual health campaigns and provide refugees with necessary eyeglasses. By championing the health of marginalized populations and advocating for effective public policies, OPPH is committed to creating a healthier and more equitable society in the MENA region.
