Optect

Optect develops advanced flame detection technology for applications where rapid, reliable fire warning is critical. Its flagship LR16 IR3 detector is an optically enhanced, long-range device designed to monitor large areas or identify very small flames. According to the company, it can detect a single candle flame at 20 metres and a standard 1-foot-by-1-foot heptane pan fire at up to 500 metres, with detection assessment in under 10 seconds. The detector is independently approved to FM 3260, FM 3260C and EN 54-10 standards.

Optect’s technology uses the thermal wavelengths emitted by combustion, enabling detection through smoke without relying on images or airborne particles. The company highlights wildfire applications such as spotting embers, partially obscured flames and approaching fires, as well as fire detection in car parks. Designed for straightforward setup and integration with existing fire control systems, the LR16 can support earlier alarms and faster activation of protective measures. Optect also invites partners to participate in its pilot program.
