Heritage Ireland is Ireland’s national heritage service, with sites in the care of the Office of Public Works. It invites visitors to explore the country’s history, landscapes and culture through a wide range of historic places, monuments, gardens and museums. Locations include ancient sites such as Carrowmore Megalithic Cemetery and Brú na Bóinne, historic buildings such as Dublin Castle and Kilkenny Castle, and natural attractions including Phoenix Park and the National Botanic Gardens.
The service helps visitors plan trips through regional guides, itineraries, visitor information and a calendar of events. A Heritage Card offers unlimited access to participating heritage sites, while some locations provide cafés and visitor centres. Heritage Ireland also supports group and travel trade visits, venue hire for weddings and other events, and filming and photography. Its educational resources, school visits, online exhibitions, videos, blog and magazine share knowledge about Ireland’s heritage. Conservation, research and the care of collections, historic structures, gardens and landscapes are central to its work.
