About Orangutan Conservancy
The Orangutan Conservancy (OC) is an organization dedicated to protecting orangutans in their natural habitat. Through their commitment to wild research, capacity building, education, and public awareness programs, OC supports various on-the-ground efforts to save Southeast Asia's only great ape. The organization actively supports initiatives that advance its mission, such as funding conservation science, supporting education programs, and staging the annual Orangutan Veterinary Advisory Group Workshops.
Orangutans can only be found in Southeast Asia, specifically in the rainforests of Borneo and Sumatra. These rainforests are home to a rich diversity of plant and animal species, with Borneo and Sumatra supporting 10% of Indonesia's known plant species, 12. 5% of its mammals, and 17% of its other vertebrates.
OC's projects include supporting research and rescue centers, habitat restoration, funding medical supplies for rehabilitation centers, and addressing human-orangutan conflict. By donating or adopting an orangutan, you can contribute to OC's mission to protect these endangered primates and their rainforest habitats. Join OC in their efforts to save this incredible species and preserve the biodiversity of the rainforests
