Öresund/Øresund Patrol is a Swedish–Danish nonprofit initiative working to support a sustainable future for the Öresund/Øresund region. Bringing together science, stewardship and ocean literacy, the organisation addresses the shared environmental challenges of a sea connected to communities on both sides of the national border. Its work spans marine research, education and conservation.

Through citizen science and collaboration with universities, organisations and institutions, Öresund/Øresund Patrol carries out large-scale environmental and scientific projects. Its education programs build understanding of the ocean’s role in sustaining life, how human activity affects marine environments and why ocean literacy matters for sustainable choices. The organisation also advocates for maritime policy change at government level in Sweden and Denmark.

Its operational area extends from Hallands Väderö in the north to Køge Bugt and Falsterbo in the south. People can support the work through donations or membership, and take part in events and activities. Öresund/Øresund Patrol’s mission is grounded in shared science, collective action and responsibility for the health of the region’s waters.
