Oriole Nursery School is a non-denominational, play-based co-operative preschool in Toronto’s Deer Park neighbourhood, near Yonge and St. Clair. Welcoming children since 1948, the school offers three small programs for ages 18 months to five: Toddler, Junior Preschool and Senior Preschool. Families can choose two to five mornings each week, with a new extended-day option until 2:45 p.m. for children aged 2.5 and older. A summer camp is also available.
Oriole’s educators plan play-based learning around social, emotional, language, thinking and physical development, following Ontario’s ELECT early learning framework. Weekly enrichment includes French, Sportball, music and dance, yoga, science, cooking, gardening and art, with no additional fees for these activities. Children learn in dedicated classrooms and have access to two indoor gyms and a private, shaded playground.
As a co-operative, Oriole is guided by a parent board and encourages families to take part in school life. Its small classes, strong educator relationships and flexible schedules support a warm, connected community for children and families.
