Oriolus

Etelä-Savon Lintuharrastajat Oriolus ry is a Finnish association for people interested in observing wild birds. Serving the South Savo region, it promotes birdwatching and research, nature and environmental conservation, and biodiversity. The association welcomes participants at different levels of experience and provides resources to support learning and involvement.

Oriolus organizes bird-focused events, including guided excursions and presentations, as well as competitions such as birding rallies and species-count challenges. Its website shares regional news, information on birding locations across South Savo, excursion reports, and guidance on bird observation and helping birds. The association also supports conservation and research activities, including bird ringing, bird counts, reporting, and the 2022–2025 Finnish Bird Atlas project. Members and visitors are encouraged to submit sightings through the Tiira bird information service, contributing observations that can support research and help people follow bird activity around Finland.

For communication and community, Oriolus offers WhatsApp groups for general birding discussion and notable sightings, along with an email list for news and conversation.
