ornitho.it

Ornitho.it is a collaborative platform dedicated to ornithologists and birdwatchers in Italy, supported by numerous national and regional ornithological associations. Its primary goal is to facilitate the study, conservation, and promotion of birds through birdwatching activities. The platform serves as an essential tool for citizen science projects and for creating distribution atlases of various species.

Ornitho.it collects and validates observational data not only for birds but also for amphibians and reptiles in partnership with the Societas Herpetologica Italica and Odonata.it for dragonflies. Registered users can document their sightings and contribute to a broader understanding of animal biodiversity, although the verification process for these observations may be limited.

The site offers a range of resources, including analytical reports, conservation news, and guidelines for ethical observation practices. Ornitho.it encourages community engagement and educational initiatives to further the conservation of wildlife in Italy while maintaining a commitment to high ethical standards in data collection and usage.
