OSAF

The Organización Sudamericana de Fomento del Pura Sangre de Carrera (OSAF) is a regional organization established in 1958 to strengthen connections among South American horse-racing nations and international bodies involved in Thoroughbred racing. It supports the development and coordination of the region’s racing industry through committees and shared initiatives focused on areas such as handicapping, race quality, veterinary and equine welfare standards, stud books, horse movement, and the harmonization of rules.

OSAF provides information on the South American Classic Calendar, regional ratings, and major races, including the Gran Premio Latinoamericano, a flagship event that brings together leading horses from across the continent. Its website also publishes racing news, newsletters, results, historical material, and updates on international industry matters. In addition, the organization offers educational webinars, including sessions on rating systems with specialist contributors. Based in Montevideo, Uruguay, OSAF serves its member organizations and the wider racing community by promoting cooperation, consistent standards, and the visibility of South American Thoroughbred racing.
