The European Social Observatory (OSE) is a not-for-profit research centre based in Brussels, specialising in the comparative analysis of social policies and the social dimension of European integration. Since 1984, it has worked to inform policymakers and stakeholders through research, analysis and knowledge sharing. OSE’s expertise spans social protection and inclusion, healthcare, employment and labour market policies, the socio-ecological transition, and digitalisation. Its research examines issues including poverty and inequality, access to quality healthcare, decent work, the social effects of environmental policies, and the impact of emerging technologies on work and regulation.
OSE produces research papers, reports, articles, briefings and opinion papers, drawing on contributions from its scientific team and external experts. It also leads and participates in collaborative projects at national and EU levels, bringing together multiple stakeholders to address current social policy challenges. Through events and policy discussions, the Observatory provides a space for dialogue and exchange. Its work is supported by partnerships across Europe, and its publications, events and newsletter help keep audiences informed about developments in European social policy.
