About Open Spaces Society
The Open Spaces Society is Britain's oldest national conservation body, founded in 1865 as the Commons Preservation Society. With over 2,300 members throughout England and Wales, our mission is to campaign, assist, and defend local open spaces. We strive for stronger protection and opportunities for everyone to enjoy commons, greens, and paths.
As a leading advocate for open spaces, we defend against the loss and pressures from development, while also assisting local communities in safeguarding their green spaces for future generations. Our work includes preserving commons, protecting historical rights-of-way networks, and creating and preserving public paths. We advise government departments and local authorities and campaign for changes in legislation to better protect paths and spaces.
Join us today and help protect and preserve green and open spaces for generations to come!
