OstWestfalenLippe GmbH

OstWestfalenLippe GmbH is the organisation dedicated to promoting OstWestfalenLippe (OWL), a diverse region in northeastern North Rhine-Westphalia, centrally located in Germany. Covering 6,500 square kilometres and home to more than two million people, OWL combines varied landscapes, including the Teutoburg Forest, the Weser and Ems river areas, and the Senne plain, with a strong regional economy.

The company supports the region’s development through initiatives spanning business, research, education, employment, sustainability, digitalisation, mobility, tourism and culture. Its projects connect businesses, universities, research institutions and regional partners, helping translate expertise and innovation into practical opportunities. For example, KIT.OWL offers free, hands-on support to regional small and medium-sized businesses exploring artificial intelligence, from initial readiness checks to developing and testing applications. Other initiatives include the startklar business plan competition, the OWL Innovation Award, the Regional Agency OWL and programmes supporting skills, women in the workforce and climate resilience. Through events, news and information resources, OstWestfalenLippe GmbH also promotes the region and helps its communities and organisations collaborate on future-focused challenges.
