**Brand Description: Liberators of Auschwitz**
The "Liberators of Auschwitz" project aims to honor the soldiers of the Red Army who liberated the Auschwitz and Birkenau concentration camps. Established by the Holocaust Educational Center and educators, this initiative strives to preserve the memories of the heroes and victims of World War II. The project emphasizes documenting the specific fates of those involved, including the liberators and the liberated, as well as medical personnel and reporters who witnessed these historical events.
On January 27, 1945, the Red Army freed the Auschwitz camp, a pivotal moment now recognized globally as International Holocaust Remembrance Day. The project seeks to recover the names and stories of over 25,000 soldiers from various nations who participated in this liberation, along with accounts from survivors. Stakeholders are encouraged to contribute by sharing testimonies and artifacts, ensuring the preservation of this vital history. The initiative is supported by government grants and operates under national educational recommendations, promoting remembrance and awareness of the Holocaust.
