Oswestry Community Action (OCA) is a local charity working to improve health, wellbeing and quality of life across Shropshire and the Borderlands. Its services respond to local needs, including rural poverty, social isolation and limited access to public transport, with the aim of helping people find support and feel connected.
OCA’s Community Transport service helps members reach healthcare appointments, go shopping and make social visits. Its wellbeing services offer opportunities to meet others, build confidence, stay active and take time for oneself. The charity also works with partner organisations on community and health initiatives, including Social Prescribing and Cancer Champions. Through arts workshops in activities such as sketching, textiles and Art History, participants can explore creativity and its links to mental health and wellbeing.
People can get involved by volunteering with OCA or other organisations in the county; volunteer coordinators help identify suitable opportunities. The charity also welcomes donations and shares news about its workshops and events.
