Ryushi Memorial Museum, established in 1963 in honor of the renowned Nihonga painter Kawabata Ryushi and his achievements, is a cultural treasure located in Ota City, Tokyo. The museum showcases an extensive collection of over 140 of Ryushi's artworks, spanning from the Taisho era through the post-war period. Visitors can enjoy the powerful displays of his large-scale works, which are a testament to his innovative approach to traditional Japanese painting.
Adjacent to the museum is Ryushi Park, where the artist's former residence and studio are preserved, offering a glimpse into his life and creative process. In March 2024, both the museum and the park's historical buildings will be officially recognized as Important Cultural Properties by the Japanese government. The museum is managed by the Ota City Cultural Promotion Association and continues to provide diverse exhibitions and educational offerings related to Ryushi's artistic legacy.
