About Otonatachi
Otonatachi is a non-profit organization that has been active in Japan since 2018. They have created a new system called '1on1 college' to support high school and university students. Otonatachi believes in the value of a society where individuals can celebrate freedom and coexist with their unique perspectives and values. Their mission is to support the next generation by respecting the intrinsic motivations of high school and university students and assisting them in achieving their goals. Otonatachi is fascinated by the individuality and self-expression of each person.
They employ specific methods to achieve their goals. Firstly, through practical research and development, they help students articulate their values, behaviors, goals, challenges, and priorities to optimize their future choices. Additionally, Otonatachi fosters collective creativity by collaborating with mentors who specialize in art, education, politics, management, marketing, and design. Moreover, they operate as an independent non-profit organization to ensure a dialogue based on the students' needs, free from the influence of stakeholders such as families, schools, and corporations.
The foundation of Otonatachi and 1on1 college came from the realization that many students and adults were not able to pursue their interests or make autonomous choices, despite their desires and the wishes of those around them. Recognizing the significance of personal choice, Otonatachi aims to change this unfortunate situation. The name "Otonatachi" was derived from a student's feedback, describing the mentors as approachable adults with whom they felt comfortable sharing their concerns.
Led by Ryosuke Hasegawa, an experienced mentor and founder of 1on1 college, Otonatachi is driven by a passion for empowering students. Hasegawa has previously worked in various fields, including talent recruitment, art museum management, and political consulting.
