About Oxford University Clinical Research Unit
The Oxford University Clinical Research Unit (OUCRU) is a prominent research initiative dedicated to combating infectious diseases in Southeast Asia, with significant local, regional, and global health impacts. Established in 1991 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, OUCRU has expanded its operations to Nepal and Indonesia, fostering collaborations with key local institutions. It is part of the Centre for Tropical Medicine and Global Health at the University of Oxford.
OUCRU's mission is to enhance health through locally-driven research, engaging in diverse fields such as epidemiology, immunology, pathology, microbiology, mathematical modeling, and social sciences. The unit operates a comprehensive clinical trials unit and a data management center that adheres to stringent regulations, ensuring the highest standards in research integrity.
Supported by Wellcome Trust, OUCRU has successfully improved research capacity and infrastructure in its host countries. With a passionate team of scientists and a commitment to public engagement and training, OUCRU is making strides in understanding and addressing infectious diseases.
