About OurResearch
OpenAlex is an open catalog of the global research system, bringing scholarly information together to make it easier to discover, analyze, and reuse. Inspired by the Library of Alexandria, it gathers and organizes records for research works and connects them with authors, institutions, sources, funders, and topics. Its collection includes papers, books, datasets, theses, and preprints, alongside open-access full-text PDFs with license information.
The data is updated regularly and released under the CC0 public-domain license, while the project’s code is also open source. OpenAlex is operated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, with premium services helping support the long-term availability of its open data. Researchers and other users can search and filter works through the website, build complex queries with OpenAlex Query Language, or access information through the API and command-line interface.
The organization also offers a downloadable dataset snapshot, tools for synchronizing data, and full-text downloads. These services support research discovery, systematic reviews, and applications built on scholarly data
