BirdLife Schweiz

The Ornithological Association of Kerzers and Surroundings (OVK) is a local bird and nature conservation organisation founded in 1928. It works to protect the natural environment in Kerzers, with a particular focus on maintaining and renewing wetlands and caring for nesting boxes in woodland and open countryside. Its activities also include practical conservation projects, such as hedge maintenance in the Great Moor, and support for local wildlife, including swifts, house martins, kestrels and barn owls.

OVK invites members and other interested people to take part in regular excursions, talks and volunteer workdays. Its excursions explore local wildlife and plant life, and participants can also join events organised by the partner Bird and Nature Conservation Association of Laupen, expanding the programme available to both groups. The association shares information about bird protection, nesting sites and wildlife encounters, and publishes an annual programme of events. In spring 2027, it plans to offer a beginner ornithology course in Kerzers, featuring five theory evenings and five field excursions.
