About Organization for welfare and development in action
Organization for Welfare & Development in Action (OWDA) is a national humanitarian organization in Ethiopia dedicated to implementing sustainable human development. With a growing number of projects, extensive coverage, and a dedicated workforce, OWDA aims to bring about sustainable development to underserved populations in Ethiopia. OWDA's vision is to create an Ethiopia where all people have achieved sustainable human development.
Their mission is to strengthen strategic capacities and partnerships to bring about sustainable development in the lives of underserved populations. OWDA's goal is to promote conditions of sustainable human development through various programs, such as basic service delivery, economic opportunities, livelihood diversification, Disaster Risk Management, climate change adaptations, advocacy, and protection. Established in 1999, OWDA initially provided humanitarian assistance to drought-affected populations.
The organization is governed by the general assembly, which delegates oversight to the board of directors. OWDA provides various services in the areas of livelihood, WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene), and health.
