Oxford Karate Academy is a traditional Goju Ryu karate school serving Oxford and nearby communities. Founded in 1974, the academy offers a supportive environment built around discipline, respect, encouragement, and community. Its classes are open to children aged six and over, adults, and students continuing at brown and black belt level. New students can book a free trial lesson.

Children develop coordination, karate technique, focus, and self-discipline, while learning confidence, ways to respond to bullying, and practical self-defence skills. Adult training combines fitness, strength, and flexibility with traditional karate practice, including basic techniques, kata, padwork, and controlled sparring. Students also learn practical self-defence, with techniques for striking, close-range control, escaping, and ground situations. Advanced classes provide further training, with opportunities to learn from visiting instructors and attend local, national, and international seminars. Students may also take part in kata and kumite competitions.

Oxford Karate Academy operates dojos at Risinghurst, Berry Youth Centre, and Berinsfield Sports Centre.
