Oxford Swans is a friendly, supportive swimming club for disabled people of all ages. Affiliated with the Halliwick Association of Swimming Therapy, the club offers opportunities to take part in swimming through both one-to-one support and group activities in the water. Sessions are held on Saturdays at Ferry Leisure Centre in Summertown and on Tuesdays at Leys Pool and Leisure Centre in Oxford.
The club welcomes new swimmers and volunteers, and encourages people interested in helping to learn more about the role and what it involves. Volunteer support is particularly needed for Tuesday evening sessions. Because the club may not always have enough helpers in the water, some swimmers are asked to attend with a family member or care-worker who can accompany them. This arrangement does not apply to independent swimmers who have achieved, or are working at, Green Badge standard, unless they need assistance with social distancing.
Oxford Swans also provides membership information, session updates, policies and procedures, and notices of days when swimming is unavailable.
