About Oxide Clay Art
Oxide Clay Art on the Sunshine Coast offers pottery and ceramics classes by award-winning artist potter and teacher, Joe Ottaway. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced student, these classes cater to all skill levels. With over 30 years of experience as a TAFE Ceramics Teacher and Ceramic Artist in Brisbane, Joe is a master potter who brings an enthusiastic approach to teaching and ensures that every student has an enjoyable, rewarding, and high-quality pottery experience while exploring their creativity and learning new skills.
What sets Oxide Clay Art apart is the opportunity for students to finish their pots with professional quality high-fired stoneware reduction glazes. Over the past 30 years, Joe has developed and refined these glazes, resulting in stunning and unique finishes. The reduction firing process in a gas-fired kiln takes around 8 hours and requires close supervision and attention to detail.
Located in a beautiful bushland setting near Mount Ninderry, the Oxide Clay Art studio offers breathtaking views of Mount Eeewah and the Yandina district.
