Oyate Health Center is a tribally-owned and operated walk-in primary care clinic situated in Rapid City, South Dakota. Under the management of the Great Plains Tribal Leaders’ Health Board, the center offers comprehensive services, including urgent care, primary care clinic, optometry, dental care, pharmacy, behavioral health, physical therapy, laboratory services, and radiology. Their patient-centered care approach is backed by the Oyate System of Care, Purchased and Referred Care, Mobile App, and Health Access & Registration.
Oyate Health Center was created as a response to the shortcomings of healthcare on Indian Country, marking an expression of tribal sovereignty through the self-determination process. Established in 2019, the center is committed to providing high-quality and culturally-sensitive healthcare services to tribal citizens. Taking advantage of the Indian Self-Determination Act, Oyate Health Center aims to improve the well-being of its patients by adopting a proactive approach to healthcare delivery, resulting in a significant improvement in patient satisfaction and wait times
