The Former Residence of Theodora Ozaki, located in Setagaya Ward's Gotokuji district, is a historic blue Western-style mansion, established in 1888. Built for Theodora Eiko, a daughter of a Japanese baron, the house originally stood in Minato Ward before being moved to its current location in 1933. Theodora later became the wife of former Tokyo mayor, Yoshio Ozaki, and played a significant role in cultural and diplomatic exchanges between Japan and the West, particularly through her translations of Japanese poetry and stories.

Under the stewardship of the Theodora Ozaki Preservation Project, established in 2022, the mansion has been saved from demolition thanks to community support and crowdfunding efforts. This initiative aims to preserve the building while revitalizing it as a gallery and a café, creating a unique space that bridges generations and celebrates the historical significance of the property. Visitors can explore art exhibitions and enjoy refreshments while engaging with a rich cultural heritage, ensuring the legacy of the mansion continues for the next century.
